i started developing film at home! its so liberating and awesome being able to develop that way, and soooo much fucking cheaper since ive been using caffenol. I was pretty nervous at first but it genuinely works so well and now that ive nailed down the timing i think itll be pretty consistent :>> (also enjoy the shitty flip phone pics)
i got my caffenol recipe from here using the “Delta” recipe: https://www.caffenol.org/recipes/ or
– 1000ml (1l) Water @ 68 ish degrees F
– 24g Washing soda (i used the arm and hammer super washing soda)
– 20g Vitamin C (i used the winco brand emergen-c equivalent but any vitamin c powder drink mix should work!)
– 45g Instant coffee (whatever brand is the cheapest and strongest!)
My Process:
- 1 cycle of water to wet the film
- 16 minutes developer
- 0-30s pour
- 30-90s agitation (inversions while twisting the tank)
- 3x tumbles on the minute after
- 3 cycles water to stop*
- 5 minutes fixer (same agitation process as dev)
- 5-8 cycles water to wash*
*i use the spin stick on the stop/wash steps cus i feel like it gets more thorough rinsing and u dont have to take the lid on and off as much

and voila! thats what works for me, i know its not the scientifically ideal process but it works and its fun :>

ive also been trying to figure out a decent scanning situation – i tried to build one out of cardboard to use with my dslr and the film holder piece works great, i just havent figured out an even enough backlight yet :< i may have impulse bought an old epson v370 off ebay cus it was pretty cheap and was tested to be working, so fingers crossed that works okay! :3
